Our Guide Dorian Rondot Finniss River Lodge

Fishing Charters with Barramundi Adventures

On the river, in the harbour, or out to sea, your expert skipper and fishing guide is Dorian Rondot, born and bred Territorian who reeled in his first barramundi at the age of 4. Having spent every childhood weekend fishing with his Dad, Dorian knows the waters in this region and all its hidden gems like no-one else. Aside from running a land-based barramundi farm, Dorian guides discerning clients on bespoke half- or full- day fishing charters in his customized 6.5-metre Boston Whaler. He has worked on the water all his life, turning his passion into a livelihood. There is simply no-one better qualified to guide you on your angling adventures from Finniss River Lodge.

Heli Fishing

For a truly unique and exclusive experience, a full or half day heli fish gives you access to the floodplains of the Adelaide River or the coastal creeks, estuaries and striking red cliffs of Anson Bay, all with highly experienced pilots and guides.

On special request, fly by heli to the Tiwi Islands and meet up with expert local fishing guide, Dorian Rondot and his dedicated high-speed fishing vessel. Experience once in a lifetime fishing for barramundi and other species in one of the most remote, pristine fishing environments in the world.

fishing hotspots

The Finniss River

Located on the southern boundary of Finniss River Station and just a 10 minute drive from the Lodge, the Finniss River offers the best of both worlds. Saltwater estuary fishing yields varieties such as barramundi, threadfin salmon and jewfish, whilst the intertidal zone upstream is home to freshwater species including saratoga, tarpon and of course more barramundi. Board our dedicated fishing vessel and troll the peaceful waters of this picturesque river all year round. The Finniss River has it all!

Bynoe Harbour

Just 20 minutes’ drive north east of Finniss River Lodge is one of the great dry season hot spots… Bynoe Harbour.

Bynoe offers pristine creeks for chasing barramundi, salmon and mud crabs, with plenty of queenfish around the foreshores. Its deep channel out to sea is studded with ledges that hold all the usual reef fish, along with goldies and jewfish. The Crab Claw Jetty Artificial Reef and Simms Reef are great places to try for big jewfish. If it’s windy, Bynoe Harbour offers plenty of sheltered spots to ensure a great day out.

Let Dorian show you his favourite spots in Bynoe Harbour, topped off with a real Top End lunch at Crab Claw Island Resort. Perched on the water’s edge, the elevated Island Bar and Restaurant boasts fantastic views across the harbour. The burgers are always a hit!

Combine a half day’s fishing in Bynoe Harbour with a heli trip to Litchfield National Park for an exceptional full day excursion from Finniss River Lodge.

Beyond the Station

The Ocean

Boasting 15 kilometres of coastline, Finniss River Station provides angling opportunities along the coast and out to sea.

Dorian’s high speed fishing boat gets you out to the bluewater in no time. Here you can find trevally, queenfish, mackerel and tuna. For reef species, bottom bouncing always produces good results.

Heli fishing & boat fishing is an additional cost.
