Take note of the name, Andrew Ucles (pronounced you-cools). Not only is he Finniss River Lodges’ resident wildlife and survival expert; his also has his own Netflix Series “Born to be Wild” which is currently being featured globally.
According to Ucles, he’s spent all his life in nature – learning its secrets and its reality – from ‘close calls with dangerous animals and exotic diseases’. Not surprisingly, his adventures have taken him to all corners of the globe and through his experience with many different environments and landscapes, has acquired an armory of survival techniques and strategies that he is somewhat ironically, dying to share. He has journeyed with Kenya’s Massai trackers, explored the Aussie outback with its First Peoples, and with insights gained along the way, has developed his own innovative approach to interpreting the land.
Andrew Ucles is also a Survival Instructor in the Australian Defence Force and incorporates a diversity of skill sets into his guiding which he has acquired in his service.
Finniss River Lodge is honoured to announce Ucles at the helm of its tour guiding team – promising guests the most intimate and memorable adventures on a landscape he poetically describes as ‘a wilderness oasis embedded within nature’s diverse labyrinth of escarpments, wetlands and monsoonal rainforests boarded by the secluded and private beach front of the Timor Sea.’
We acknowledge and pay respect to the Traditional Custodians – all Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island Elders past, present & emerging on which Finniss River Lodge stands. In sharing elements of their history, heritage & culture we acknowledge their connection to country.
